Charles A. Scheckel, President

Mr. Scheckel founded Chartwell IT in 1998, calling upon his extensive management and technical experience to set the foundation for a highly capable software development firm. His prior responsibilities produced a well-rounded set of skills and knowledge, covering the disciplines of strategic and tactical product marketing, sales of custom and semi-custom software solutions, technical direction of software systems design, leadership responsibilities of software development teams, and business management roles.

Much of his 30 year career has been spent in working directly with customers, industry thought leaders and senior management in the planning and direction of technology related business issues.

Since starting Chartwell IT, Mr. Scheckel became directly involved in the planning, design, development and support of web-based software solutions for our clients. He has acted as System Architect and lead developer for e-commerce systems, enterprise portals and web-enabled applications, and also filled project management and business process analysis roles.

Mr. Scheckel received a B.A. Degree in Physics and Computer Science from St. Mary's College (now St. Mary's University), Winona, MN.

Dr. Mark T. Mercier, Vice President, Project Engineering

Dr. Mercier is a veteran of 27 years in the software industry. Upon receiving his doctorate degree, he entered the workforce as a technical software developer, and quickly earned a reputation for excellence in his field. His inter-personal skills and technical capacity led to many key project role appointments, including lead software architect, project manager, team leader and lead developer for a wide variety of software and instrument development projects.

Since joining Chartwell IT, he has been involved in several web-development projects. Most recently, he performed the duties of System Architect for the successful development of a multi-tiered, intranet-enabled custom application. Dr. Mercier’s leadership was instrumental in guiding a diverse team of technology specialists located throughout the world, including an offshore development group located in India. His skills, extensive experience and excellent communication habits are valuable assets on every project team he leads.

Dr. Mercier holds a Ph. D. in Nuclear Physics from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, and a B.A. Degree in Math and Physics from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY
