e-Commerce Site and Back-Office Management, Food Products
An
e-Commerce site and business operations system
implemented for an established business gift
company. In addition to the product catalog,
the system includes features for maintaining
personalized gift lists. The system is
tightly integrated with a Contact Management
system, a development done in parallel with the
e-Commerce site. The Contact Management system is
the primary software for the
office staff to manage
the gift line of business. Orders posted to
the web site are directly
available to the back office. Those orders
can then be efficiently processed and
batch transferred to the accounting system for subsequent invoicing and financial rollup.
The system is designed around Microsoft's
SiteServer Commerce Edition 3.0, and uses the
SQL Server RDBMS as the data
storage component. The Contact Management application uses MS Access and SQL Server RDBMS.

Enterprise Portal
A
portal site used by a nation-wide corporation that
acts as the central point for publishing and
retrieving internal company documents and
reports. The portal includes a comprehensive
security function that restricts access to
documents and functionality based a user's
profile. It provides an easy publishing
mechanism for placing documents on the portal in
the correct category, with or without approval
depending upon the type of document being
published. The
portal also includes functionality for posting announcements by
department, a bulletin board system, and advanced document search
capability based on full-text indexing
and indexing of document meta data.
Custom applications
within the portal provide special reporting
capabilities by accessing data from Oracle RDBMS
systems. Data is consolidated into reports
by extracting information from the Oracle-based
financial, HR, operations and data warehouse
databases. The reports are "user specific",
showing such data as commission and sales
performance.
The portal is based on
Microsoft's SiteServer 3.0 application, with both
Oracle and SQL Server used as data
repositories.
The site is not
publicly accessible.
